Her Life Speaks (formerly known as Oasis Ministries International) will celebrate “10 years of God’s faithfulness and service to the community” in 2018. The women’s ministry will kick off the year with its 10th Annual Lenten Retreat on March 9-10 at the Marriott in Hanover, NJ. The event features fellowship, worship, and inspirational messages with national speaker Deidra Riggs, the author of One: Unity in a Divided World. The ministry is also encouraging teen girls and younger women to attend this community of faith. Register at www.herlifespeaks.org.
WHAT’S IN A NAME?
At its Welcome Back Dinner in the fall, the ministry announced its name change, from Oasis Ministries International to Her Life Speaks.
“Her Life Speaks is all about ‘her testimony,’ ‘her life,’ and who God is in ‘her story,’ ” said April Sliwak, the executive director. “She has seen God as a provider, healer, teacher. She can testify of His grace, love, and forgiveness. She lives for Him and with Him in her faith journey. She wants to serve because of what Jesus has done in her life. She wants to love-on and care for the Body of Christ and the community. She desires to be in community…”
LIVING IN COMMUNITY
In 2018, Her Life Speaks will focus on the theme of “Community” in small groups throughout New Jersey. The theme is based on The One Another Project by Wayne Hoag. All women are welcome to join.
“There are 29 ‘One Another’ admonitions in the Bible and they all start from “Love One Another” John 13:34,” said Sliwak.
SINGLE MOMS’ EVENT
In September, Her Life Speaks collaborated with KLOVE Radio to host an event for single moms at Montclair Community Church. Moms were blessed and enjoyed a night of fellowship, prayer, food, worship, and an encouraging word.
Her Life Speaks held its first Leadership Training on November 4. Nearly 50 women’s ministry leaders attended, ages 14 and up. “We highly promote the raising up of new leadership so we invited these young ladies to join us and become empowered,” said Sliwak, who led the training along with Elise Parker, Director of Staff Training and Development.
PRAISE & WORSHIP
The ministry also announced the formation of Her Life Sings, a worship team. Auditions will be held in mid-January.
“This is a true blessing and answer to prayer,” Sliwak said.
Under the direction of Christine Cullen, Her Life Sings will offer praise and worship at all ministry events.
