“Becoming Confident Christian Ambassadors”— for 40 years, that has been the motto of Bergen County Christian Academy’a ministry to grammar and high school students.
“There are so many avenues of service for our students to the larger community of Bergen County and its diverse cultures,” said Administrative Assistant and External Advancement Director Jennifer Schmidt. (story continues after photo)
Located at 15 Conklin Place in Hackensack, New Jersey, Bergen County Christian Academy (BCCA) enrolls 120 students each year in grades pre-school through high school. The program offers a 5-to-1 student to teacher ratio and 18 extracurricular activities, ranging from drama to music to sports.
Programs are designed to enhance learning while meeting the spiritual, moral, emotional, and social needs of each student. In addition, BCCA students have consistently won top awards competing in statewide competitions in academics, music, and arts. The school offers multiple instrumental lessons through the BCCA Conservatory, and offers its athletes co-ed soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball, along with co-ed Junior Varsity teams, Varsity Boys teams, and Varsity Girls teams.
Founded in 1973 as Hackensack Christian Schools, a ministry of First Baptist Church of Hackensack, the school was reestablished as Bergen County Christian Academy in 2016. BCCA is a member of the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS), Garden State Association of Christian Schools (GSACS), and Metro Christian Athletic Association (MCAA). The school also accepts international students through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP and I-20).
When asked what has kept BCCA vibrant for so many years, Principal Linda Horn responded, “The prayers of the faithful people to a powerful God, who continue to want BCCA to be a beacon of hope for future students.”
Upcoming special events at BCCA include: a Christmas concert on December 19, 7:30 p.m.; a Kindergarten Open House on Feb. 27; and Exhibit Night on March 27, 7 p.m. For those interested in becoming a part of the mission of BCCA, opportunities are available to support the school’s tuition assistance program (TAP) and sponsor current or new students. The school also welcomes assistance with planned science lab updates and building renovations.
