Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, high school, middle school, and grammar school students, families, teachers, and administrators faced unprecedented challenges this year. In recognition of the faith, hard work, and perseverance at local Christian schools, TriStateVoice.com is honoring graduates. Today, we honor Bergen County Christian Academy in Hackensack, NJ.
On Thursday, July 9, Bergen County Christian Academy, in Hackensack, NJ, was pleased to honor the Class of 2020 at an outdoor graduation ceremony. Although the number of attendees was limited due to COVID-19 restrictions, graduates were surrounded by invited family and guests, BCCA Administration, the BCCA Education Team, a representative of First Baptist Church, and several high school faculty members.
The Valedictorian Address (link here) was given by Christina Conti, followed by the presentation of awards and scholarships. Wanjun Yao’s Salutatorian Address (link here) proceeded the challenge from keynote speaker, Rev. Howard VanDyk, Jr., who is the campus pastor of First Baptist Church. Principal Linda Horn and Assistant Principal Tonya Vaughn presided over the conferring of diplomas.
After the Presentation of the Class of 2020, class advisors Craig McFarlane and Kristen Hanson assisted the graduates in the recognition of their parents. Unfortunately, three graduates—Guhyeon Gwon, Preston James, and JongWon Park—were unable to attend the ceremony. (story continues after ad)
The 2019-2020 academic year was filled with unprecedented challenges for BCCA’s seniors, but school administrators noted that God continued to bless the students and school as they walked in faith, knowing He is in control of all things.
Bergen County Christian Academy is planning to resume an in-person, classroom education for its students in September. The administration and Education Team has been diligently working, using state guidelines to implement a re-opening plan for the 2020-2021 school year.
BCCA is looking forward to continuing its mission of providing students with a quality education grounded in Biblical principles all for the glory of God.
