Editor’s note: Tom Campisi, publisher of tristatevoice.com, gave the following prayer as part of Movement.org’s Night of Prayer and Vision and Prayer, hosted at Beraca Baptist Church in Brooklyn. The event, held in conjunction with Movement Day NYC, sought to unite and catalyze the region to impact a million new Metro New Yorkers with the gospel and bring Bible translation to 1 billion people living in Bible poverty (3,896 languages need translation) around the world (video link of entire event at end).
Father, in the name of Jesus, we unite now to ask you for 100,000 marketplace leaders in greater New York City to be engaged and mobilized to reach the workplace, to make a kingdom impact in the workplace. Pour out your Spirit on every sector of society.
Lord, I pray for marketplace professionals, even now, to have a greater sense of calling. I pray that they would see their vocation, not just as a way to make a living, but I pray that they would see their vocations as holy callings.
I pray that our churches would boldly send out men and women into this marketplace harvest field and that these leaders would – in turn – take upon themselves the mandate of Christ, who came to proclaim good news to the poor, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom for the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, and proclaimed the Lord’s favor.
Lord, I pray that our marketplace leaders would gather to pray, to study your Word, and encourage one another on a regular basis. May they be like trees planted by rivers of water, that bring forth fruit in our region and in the marketplace. I pray for the success of marketplace ministries like the New Canaan Society and for other strategic networks to emerge.
Lord, I pray for marketplace movement that would be multiplied by your spirit, your grace, and power…and – like in the book of Acts – you would add to your church thousands of new disciples.
Tonight we consider the great businessman’s revival of 1857 in Brooklyn, and recall how that revival changed our nation in a mighty way. Lord, we humbly ask, that you would use marketplace leaders to do it again. In the name of Jesus, we pray.
