Pillar College recently received a generous grant from Investors Foundation. The grant will help further Pillar College’s mission of serving underserved populations with a Christ-centered higher education.
With campus locations in Newark, Somerset, Plainfield, Jersey City, and Paterson, Pillar College offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs along with special programs like DEED (Dual Enrollment Education program) for high school students and BLEND (Bilingual Education Degree). Nearly one third of Pillar College students live at or below the poverty level; therefore, in particularly challenging times, the financial pressures for many have increased.
“Grants such as the one from Investors Foundation enable many of our students to remain in seat and complete their academic dream. We know that once students drop out many never return and thus the ability to assist deserving students is very important.” expressed Dr. Wayne Dyer, VP of Strategic Alliances for Pillar College.
The Pillar Cares Special Grant is funded by donors and grants to Pillar College. Investors Bank Chairman and CEO Kevin Cummings said, “Investors Bank is keenly aware of the financial hardship many students are facing because of the pandemic. We are honored to provide this grant to the Pillar Cares COVID-19 Student Relief Fund. We hope these funds will assist students in fulfilling their dreams of completing their education and helping their families and communities after graduation.”
Grants like these make a substantial difference in the lives of students.
One Pillar College student recipient expressed, “I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in funding the Pillar Cares award on my behalf. I am very honored to be the recipient of this award. Presently, I am working hard at Pillar College majoring in Psychology and Counseling, and my GPA is 3.00. My goal is to graduate with my bachelor’s degree with flying colors from Pillar College. Though all my challenges in my personal life, your kindness and compassion will allow me to further my college goals at Pillar College against all the odds. Receiving this award motivates me to maintain my GPA, go even higher, and complete my degree.”
“I look forward to continuing to be able to give back to the community once I begin my career in Psychology and Counseling. I thank you for your confidence and willingness to help me achieve my goals.”
