New Jersey Right to Life and other pro-life groups in the state reacted with disappointment this week after both houses of the Legislature passed S49/A6260, a bill which “Codifies Constitutional Right to Freedom of Choice.”

Gov. Phil Murphy signed the bill into law on Thursday morning (Jan. 13).

“Contrary to its name, this Act is not a codification of abortion but a robust expansion of abortion,” stated New Jersey Right to Life. “There are many unintended consequences with this bill and it is written so poorly that it is open to interpretation.”

“Yesterday was a sad day indeed,” said Mary Tasy, executive director of NJRTL. “S49/A6260 is an abortion expansion bill that will enshrine in law the right to kill innocent children with no limits. Having said that, I want to tell you that we will never give up… We know it is hard not to be discouraged at this time, but we also know that with God’s help, LIFE will win.”

On Friday, January 14 at 11a.m., NJRTL and pro-life groups will host The New Jersey Right to Life Rally and the Walk for Life New Jersey at the State House Annex in Trenton.

Following the Walk for Life, Rev. Clenard Childress, of BlackGenocide.org, will lead the rally to the Governor’s office.

“We need to show Governor Murphy and Legislators that New Jersey is pro-life!” Childress said. “Come stand and be a voice for those who want to be heard from the womb.”

“Please attend our Rally for Life on Friday, January 14,” Tasy said. “We need to have a strong show of support so that this Legislature and Governor Murphy know we are not going away!”
