Liquid Church, one of New Jersey’s fastest growing Christian churches, recently celebrated the grand opening of its Passaic County Campus, a “rebirth” of the former Preakness Faith Community Church in Wayne, New Jersey. On May 15th, Sunday services will were again held at the church at 1441 Ratzer Road.In the Summer of 2020, the congregation of Preakness Faith Community Church voted to merge ministries with Liquid Church, becoming its newest campus in Passaic County. The congregation was previously led by Pastor Jane Harlan, who served the church for 48 years.

“I am so humbled by Pastor Jane, who led her church through this merger. She and the entire Preakness Faith Community congregation have a heart to reach the next generation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is why they made this bold move to become a part of the Liquid Church family,” said Tim Lucas, lead pastor and founder of Liquid Church.

The merger will be Liquid’s fourth in New Jersey. The growing church successfully “rebirthed” the struggling Mountainside Gospel Chapel in 2013, the former St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Garwood in 2016, and Princeton Meadow Church in 2021. All three churches have experienced a revitalization through a merger with Liquid, and are once again seeing services filled with young families. A successful ministry merger pairs a declining or dying church with facilities that need a vibrant ministry, along with a growing church that is looking for space to expand its reach.

“This merger doesn’t erase the identity or heritage of Preakness. Instead, the goal is to resurrect the dream of the original founders, inject the community with fresh hope for the future, and fill this church building with  young families once again,” added Lucas.

The Preakness Faith Community congregation donated their 12,000 square foot church building, parking lot, and property to Liquid Church. The building includes a sanctuary with capacity for nearly 250 attendees per service. This year, Liquid Church renovated the building in preparation for its Grand Opening, which included installing new technology in the sanctuary, creating new classrooms for children, updating the lobby and adding a cafe, plus new bathrooms, a new sprinkler system, and more.

Liquid Church Passaic County will host two services every Sunday at 9:30am and 11:30am. Every Sunday, Liquid Family programming will be available at the 9:30am service for children from birth through Middle School, including children with special needs. For more information, visit ChurchIsFun.com.
