PARSIPPANY, NJ – In an effort to serve hungry families and children around the world, Liquid Church once again packed and provided one million holiday meals during the church’s annual Christmas Outreach. Liquid partnered with Rise Against Hunger’s local New Jersey office to host the event at 5 locations across the state. New this year, the nutritional fortified meals will be distributed to hungry families in the Philippines.
“Christmas is the season for giving thanks, and year after year, I’m so thankful for the servant hearts of our community to show Christ’s love and compassion to the hungry in a practical way – by providing nutritionally fortified, healthy meals to families in need,” said Tim Lucas, founder and lead pastor of Liquid Church. “We want to change the world for the better – and we’re looking forward to coming together with the community to pack nutritious meals for poor families in the Philippines who are battling chronic malnutrition.”
On Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd, thousands of volunteers gathered at 5 locations across New Jersey to meet the goal of packing one million meals. Designed as a family event, children and parents served alongside each other at the Christmas Outreach, working in an “assembly line fashion” to pack thousands of meals at each location in short order.
“At Liquid Church, it’s our heart to serve others here at home and around the world. That’s why this Christmas, we’re coming together to fill the empty stomachs of hungry people,” said Lucas. “We’re amazed at the community response to our annual Christmas Outreach, as over 5,500 volunteers have signed up to serve with us across New Jersey this Christmas! We simply couldn’t reach our goal of packing 1 million meals without the incredible support of a community that shares our vision.”
The church’s outreach partner, Rise Against Hunger, is an international humanitarian organization growing a global movement to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives and responding to global emergencies.
