Market Street Mission To Host 33rd Annual Coat Giveaway in Morristown and Asbury Park

Every year, as cold weather moves in, the Market Street Mission gives away free coats, hats, gloves, and scarves to hundreds of people in its community. On Saturday, Nov. 4, Market Street Mission will give away winter gear at its 33^rd annual Coat Giveaway, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the Morristown Green. MSM will also host a coat giveaway at its Jersey Shore Rescue Mission in Asbury Park on Saturday, November 18.

Anyone in need of a winter coat is welcome to attend. MSM will have men’s, women’s, and children’s sizes available.

“The annual MSM Coat Giveaway is a time for community members, churches, corporations, and individuals to get together and collect new and lightly used coats and winter accessories for the community. Volunteers are eager to assist guests in finding just the right fit and color coat they are looking for. We have over 80 wonderful volunteers that come just to make sure that each guest we serve feels cared for,” says Debbie McKenna, Market Street Mission’s Events and Volunteer Manager.

In the weeks leading up to the Coat Giveaway, MSM collects new and gently used winter coats, along with new hats, gloves, and scarves. Winter gear can be dropped off at its thrift store at 25 George Street in Morristown. Donation hours are Monday-Saturday (except Wednesdays) from 9 .m. to 3:30 p.m.

MSM invites “anyone with extra coats to donate them and bless someone in need in our community – and we invite anyone in need of a coat to join us at our giveaway on November 4!
