Instructing Christian school educators about how to better intergrate faith, learning, and a Christ-centered worldview is the purpose of a special conference Pillar College is hosting on March 29.
“Intentional Biblical Worldview Instruction,” a professional development conference, is designed for Christian school leaders, teachers, academic deans, curriculum directors, and lead teachers.
Dr. D. Bruce Lockerbie will lead the conference, which seeks to help educator’s “keep our website promises.” He is founder and CEO of PAIDEIA Inc., a New York-based conseling firm that works with Christian educators to further Christ-centered education. The firm is co-sponsoring the conference with Pillar College.
According to Dr. Lockerbie, “every Christian teacher ought to be asking, ‘How well am I representing what God thinks about the human knowledge I’m trying to teach my students?’ But, first, we must help that classroom teacher understand what worldview means and how to teach with both academic integrity and biblical integration.”
Chrsitian educators often promise parents and students a Christ-centered education, but, according to Dr. Lockerbie, “very few of our schools come anywhere near keeping such promises…not because of neglect or lack of concern, but because very few of us who lead or design or teacher our curriculum know how to prepare and present our academic content from a consistent and intentional Biblical worldview.”
